Dishwasher Troubleshooting

The following is a list of common problems and some possible solutions.

Possible Cause	Remedy
Problem: Low/No Spray Arm Pressure?
Impeller Clog	Clear pump intake tube. Clear impeller.
Clogged Spray Tips	Clear spray tips. Clear spray arm.
Low Water Level	Adjust fill cam. Clear line strainer.
Problem:Water does not Shut off?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Relay Cam Properly	Set adjust relay cam.
Bad Relay Micro Switch	Replace micro switch.
Bad On Micro Switch	Replace micro switch.
Bad Door Switch	Replace door switch.
Bad Cube Relay	Replace relay.
Problem:Washer will not start?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bad Door Start Switch	Replace door start switch.
Circuit Breaker Tripped	Reset circuit breaker.
Problem:Pump Motor Inoperative?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bad Mercury Relay	Replace mercury relay.
Bad Pump Motor	Replace motor.
Problem:Washer will not Fill?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bad Fill Solenoid	Replace solenoid.
Bad Fill Micro Switch	Replace micro switch.
Problem:Manual Fill Only?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bad Fill Micro Switch	Replace micro switch.
Problem:Washer will not Drain?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bad Drain Solenoid	Replace solenoid.
Bad Drain Micro Switch	Replace micro switch.
Bad Drain Ball Lift Assembly	Repair/Replace life assembly.
Problem:Chemical Injection Bad/Poor?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bad Micro Switch	Replace micro switch.
Not Enough Chemical	Adjust cam.
Poor Chemical Flow	Replace pump tube.
Bad Pump Motor	Replace motor.
No Chemical Flow	Replace product container.
Problem:Washer Leaks Water
Possible Cause	Remedy
Debris on Drain Ball	Clear drain ball.
Damaged Drain Ball Life Assembly	Repair / Replace drain ball life assembly.
Problem:Leaky/Noisy Vacuum Breaker
Possible Cause	Remedy
Water Pressure Too Low	Clear line strainer.
Water Pressure Too High	Adjust fill pressure.
Problem:Spray Arms Hitting Tray Rails?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Worn Spray Arm Bearings	Replace bearings.
Washer Not Level	Balance washer with bullet feet.
Tray Rails Damaged	Adjust/Replace tray rails.
Problem:Pressure Inconsistent from Wash Arms, especially in Rinse Cycle?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Not Enough Water	Adjust water level on #4 cam.
Too Much Water	Adjust water level on #4 cam.
Pump not Shutting Off in Rinse Cycle	Rewire cam, call service advistor.
Anti-Foam Valve Defective	Clean or replace valve.
Impeller Blade Plugged	Clean blade.
Problem:Wash Arms not Turning very Fast?
Possible Cause	Remedy
End Plug Missing	Replace plug.
Wash Arm Plugged	Clean arm.
Intake Pipe Plugged	Check pipe.
Bearing Worn Out	Replace bearing.
Casting Worn Out	Replace casting.
Impeller Blade Plugged	Clean blade.
Problem: No Water or Low Water Pressure?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Water Solenoid Diaphragms Defective	Clean or replace diaphragms.
Pressure Reducing Valve Defective	Adjust / Replace valve.
Gate Valve Defective	Replace valve.
Micro Switch Defective	Test and Repair/Replace switch.
Fill Switch Defective	Test and Repair / Replace switch.
Strainer Defective	Clean out strainer.
Problem:Breaker Keeps Blowing?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Breaker Not Proper Size	Call electrician. A, C & Lil Mizer: 20amp B: 30 amp for 1HP Motors
Motor Running Too Hot (squealing noise)	Replace motor.
Capacitor Burnt Out	Replace capacitor.
Water Leaking on Electrical Wiring of Motor	Repair leak and/or waterproof electrical wiring.
Not a Clean 110V line	Replace line.
Problem:Machine constantly runs?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Mercury Relay Stuck in ON Position	Check and replace relay.
90 sec Timer Motor Burnt Out	Check and replace timer.
#1 Micro Switch Burnt Out	Check and replace switch.
Loose Wiring Connection	Repair wiring.
Start Switch Burnt Out or Stuck ON	Clean and/or replace switch.
Problem:Drain Solenoid Buzzing Loudly?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Drain Solenoid Malfunctioning	Replace immediately.
Problem:Lil Mizer Water Will Not Stay IN Machine?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Drain Solenoid Failure	Check position of solenoid.
Solenoid Base	Check solenoid base for chemical erosion.
Solenoid Diaphragm Worn Out	Check diaphragm for holes.
Drain Switch Malfunctioning	Check if drain switch was stuck in ON position.
Problem:A Loud Howling Sound From Motor?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Bearings Worn Out / Motor Failure	Change motor.
Impeller Blade Plugged	Clean blade.
Problem:New Motor Will Not Run?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Check Power Connections	Ensure 110V is to motor.
Motor Wired for High Voltage	Wire motor for 110V.
Seal is Stuck from Dried Grease	Take pump and seal off, clean shaft and assemble.
Problem:Chemical not being Dispensed into Machine?
Possible Cause	Remedy
Tube Broken/Split at Top of Tube Stiffener	Replace tube or shorten the line.
Tube Not All the Way to Bottom of Stiffener	Move tube to bottom and flare end.
Squeeze Tube Cracked	Replace tube.
Peristaltic Pump Burnt Out	Replace pump.
Felt Pad Wedged on Roller	Repair pad.
#2, 5 or 6 Micro Switches Not Working	Check and Repaire or Replace switches.
Chemical Pump Housing Cracked	Replace housing.
